Aerosaurus Hot Air Balloons wins Silver Award in South West Tourism Excellence Awards

Following success in the finals of the ‘Devon Tourism Awards 2011’, family-run business Aerosaurus Hot Air Balloons won the Silver Award in the category ‘Best Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year’ at the South West Tourism Awards 2011/2012 dinner held in Torquay on the 6th February. The dinner was co-hosted by the BBC and Independent travel expert Simon Calder and former BBC Spotlight presenter Teresa Driscoll.

The South West Tourism Awards honour excellence and show appreciation for local businesses who “go the extra mile” to deliver an outstanding and innovative experience for customers. In addition to this, they also provide an ideal platform for local businesses to showcase their quality and demonstrate their contribution to the local economy through promoting tourism in the South West. This year saw a record number of entries with over 300 South West businesses from Cornwall to Gloucestershire to Wiltshire competing across 15 different categories.

The Mystery shopper and judges’ commented on Aerosaurus entry………. “Take off, journey – landing (very soft) all excellent…Champagne (real)……...Brilliant customer service.”

Aerosaurus Balloons are a Civil Aviation Authority licenced air operator with operating centres at Launceston, Exeter and near Shaftesbury and have been providing hot air balloon flights throughout the South West since 1988. In addition to flying many thousands of local residents each year celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, retirement, Christmas and other ‘Special Occasions’ the company also brings in large numbers of residents from other areas of the UK and Inbound Tourism keen to view the beauty of the South West from a unique perspective, as well as organising Balloon Festivals and Special Events.
