Devon County Council is hosting a business breakfast, where employers will have the opportunity to find out more about apprenticeships.

It takes place at Sandy Park in Exeter on Tuesday, March 12, from 8am to 9am.

The National Apprenticeship Service currently offers £1,500 to support an employer in taking on an apprentice, and Devon County Council is offering an additional £500 to small businesses who attend the breakfast event.

Employers will be able to find out about the benefits to businesses of apprenticeships, how they can get involved, the grants available to help, and talk to businesses who have employed apprentices.

Speakers at the event will also include young people who are employed as apprentices, and representatives of the National Apprenticeship Service.

Following the breakfast event, there will also be an exhibition at Sandy Park promoting employment and apprenticeship opportunities to Devon's young people. Businesses attending can stay on to explore the exhibition or  to exhibit and promote any opportunities they have for young people.

Any employers interested in attending can reserve a place by emailing thomas.satterly@devon.gov.uk by Monday, March 4.

More information about the grant available to employers, including terms and conditions, can be found at www.apprenticeships.org.uk.
