ONCE all the Christmas presents have been unwrapped and you’ve enjoyed a shopping spree at the end of year sales, you might be looking at your house and wondering where to put everything!

A clutter-free home will look bigger and will generally be a more pleasant space to spend time in, so how can you achieve this without resorting to plastic boxes or investing in expensive bespoke storage units?

Michael Lee, managing director of Potburys, suggests some key living room furniture items that not only provide additional storage but also look great:

Tiered coffee table – you can stack books and magazines on the shelf below or use baskets to store items like the TV remote control.

Blanket box or ottoman – a cushion on top provides a place to sit, while the space underneath can be used to store anything from blankets to toys.

Coffee table with drawers – drawers underneath the top of a coffee table can conceal all sorts of items such as board games, remotes, magazines, and more. These type of coffee tables tend to be a bit more bulky so are best in larger or more open spaces.

Nesting tables – usually in sets of two or three, the tables stack together but can be pulled out for extra tabletop surface as needed. They take up less floor space so are ideal for small rooms whilst still offering room for storage.

Console table – a great alternative to a cabinet while still providing storage in the drawers. Wicker baskets or bins can be lined up beneath the table for additional storage.

For new furniture items for your home visit Potburys on the High Street in Sidmouth. The end of year sale offers discounts of up to 30 per cent.
