EXETER'S comedy festival Laugh Out Loud is back, and headlining the event are some hilarious award-winning comedians who have recently been raising chuckles on TV shows such as 8 Out of Ten Cats, Have I Got News for You and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

Tony Law, nominated for the most prestigious prize in live comedy – the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2012 – brings absurd, loud and ridiculous comedy to Exeter Phoenix on January 31, following sell-out gigs all over the country. The night before his performance, Katherine Ryan, who has recently featured on Channel 4's mash-up night in Deal or No Deal, will perform at the venue.

Also performing at Exeter Phoenix are Chortle Comedy Award nominees Peacock & Gamble, local funny women O'Shea & O'Gaukroger, Rich Peppiatt, an ex red-top reporter who appeared twice before the Leveson Inquiry, and Jigsaw, who have received huge critical acclaim for their fast and slick sketches.

The Laugh Out Loud Festival, running from Friday, January 18, to Sunday, February 10, also sees comedians perform at other venues in the city.

Holly Burn, named best comedy newcomer by Harry Hill in 2012, will prove why she is worthy of the accolade at The Bike Shed Theatre on January 25.

Peep Show star Isy Suttie will deliver her work in progress show at the same venue the following day.

At Exeter Northcott, highlights include The Stand Up Philosopher on February 3, and Silly Songs For Shakespeare on February 10.

The line-up at Exeter Corn Exchange includes Lee Hurst on February 2 and Alex Horne on February 8. For a full list of events visit www.lolfestival.co.uk
