CONTRACTS worth up to £16m are up for grabs to Devon businesses as construction firm Willmott Dixon expands its operations in the South West peninsula.
After winning four major contacts in the area worth more than £20m, the company is inviting businesses from across the construction sector to attend a Meet the Contractor event at Sandy Park in Exeter.
Willmott Dixon has committed to spending £16m in Devon with locally based contractors.
Attendees at the event on Wednesday, September 4, will learn more about the firm, its regional presence and future work, as well as have a chance to meet the management team.
Neal Stephens, managing director for Willmott Dixon in the South West, said: "Working with local contractors is very important to us as a company. For each of our projects we try to establish a local supply chain wherever possible. We have a commitment to the communities we work in and try to ensure that we work alongside the community as much as possible.
"We are looking forward to expanding the work we do in the South West peninsula and hope to create more opportunities in the future."
The event is endorsed by Exeter Chamber of Commerce, which aims to make its members and sub-groups – including the Exeter & East Devon Business Portal and the Manufacturing Association for East Devon and Exeter – aware of the opportunity.
Derek Phillips, vice president of Exeter Chamber, said: "We are delighted to work with Willmott Dixon on this important event, helping to secure new work for our members and keep investment local."
Businesses can pre-register for the event at www.exeterandeastdevonportal.co.uk/willmottdixon or by calling 01392 431133.
