Exeter Magistrates Court where Lee Ingledew pleaded guilty to burning his girlfriend's underwear

A MAN who suspected his girlfriend was cheating on him set fire to her underwear on a barbecue.

A court heard Lee Ingledew accused Louise Berry of having affairs and broke into their home in Cullompton where he took her underwear into the back garden and burned them.

He told her: "I have burned all your knickers."

Exeter magistrates heard the jobless welder suffered from "jealous behaviour".

His lawyer Jeremy Wickham said Ingledew, 35, who admitted two counts of criminal damage, was not thinking straight and had jealous thoughts in his head.

The court gave him a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay his girlfriend £65 to replace her burned knickers and carry out 40 hours of unpaid work.
