Elderly woman needed hospital treatment after being mugged in Exeter

An elderly woman was taken to hospital after being mugged in Exeter over the weekend.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses to the incident that occurred on the footpath between St Thomas Pleasure Ground and Buller Road in Exeter on Sunday, April 13 between 8am and 9am.

The victim had her handbag stolen and suffered injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6ft tall, medium build wearing a black top and jeans he is believed to have had his face covered.

The victim walks with a metal stick and was wearing a black coat and trousers; she was wearing a beige peak cap.

After receiving treatment for her injuries in hospital the victim has now been released.
