Emergency exercise tonight at Exeter Airport

Passengers and other members of the public should not be alarmed by activities at Exeter Airport when a joint emergency exercise is staged to test the response to major incident this evening.

The exercise, which is a requirement of the Civil Aviation Authority, involves the Exeter Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service together with dozens of personnel from the police, ambulance and external fire services, the Local Authority Crisis Support Team and Social Services.

Several 'blue light' emergency vehicles will attend and members of the casualty union and others will be made up to resemble seriously injured people.

The event which will be staged from 7pm tonight and it is anticipated that that the exercise will be completed at 10.30pm.
