EXETER Chiefs' Supporters' Club have handed over £1,200 to the club's youth section – taking the total they have donated to £29,000.

The latest four-figure sum will help towards the cost of hiring pitches around the city for colts games on Saturdays and the younger age groups on Sundays.

In the last two years the fans have given more than £7,000 to the Chiefs' youth and community sections.

Chairman John Lockyer said: "The youth section have to hire pitches and it is not cheap so we want to do what we can do to help. Hopefully the supporters are happy that the money we raise at our various events is being spent well."

The next fundraising event takes place on Friday next week, with a quiz and buffet at the Isca Centre in Whipton.

There are still places available for teams of four or six. Contact David Brown on 01392 435382 to enter a team.

The quiz starts at 7.30pm and entry costs £5 for supporters' club members and £6 for guests.
