Exeter University is understood to have made Olympic diver Tom Daley an offer to undertake a degree with them when he finishes his A Levels.
Exeter is going head to head with Plymouth University in a bid to woo the 18-year-old.
Both local universities are understood to have made the star offers to start degree courses after he completes his courses at Plymouth College this summer.
Exeter Uni has recently been named University of the Year in The Sunday Times University Guide 2013 and is also ranked as best in the South West for teaching. Tom, who is currently starring on ITV’s Splash! on a Saturday night attracting 6.2million viewers, is believed to be interested in studying Media at Exeter.
If he did choose Exeter it would be a blow for Plymouth Uni who are currently investing £4million in a new diver training centre – which could prove attractive to Tom.
Tom is understood to have not yet decided whether to accept either offer – or several other offers made by universities in other parts of the country.
The Plymouth teenager is currently deciding whether to go straight on to university, take a year out or not continue his education.
Whatever he decides, a degree would have to be part-time to fit in with Tom’s intensive dive training as he prepares for future competition – including the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Tom is currently studying subjects at A Level including Spanish.
