Charlie’s Live Lounge on Cowick Street has lowered its age restriction and is now open to over 18’s.

The club, which opened in November ,previously advertised itself as an over 25s Night Club but has now dropped its age limit by seven years.

Under the stewardship of new General Manager, Julian Eslick Charlies is now open to over 18’s after 7pm. There is also a more relaxed dress code and no coat charge for guests.

Speaking in November owner Rebecca Weaver, whose background is in hospitality, said:

“It’s been a dream of mine for years and as I’ve got older the idea of what nightclub I’d want to open has changed over the years. I’m now 33 and I want somewhere to chill out, relax and have fun, but where there’s no students, and finding that has not been possible in Exeter until now.

“We’re a live music venue rather than a nightclub. What we’re about is music, food and fizz! What also makes us different is we offer waiter service so you don’t have to contend with hustle and bustle at the bar.

“I will build on the live music events with bigger acts to come next year as well as the venue itself evolving.”

The food and drinks served at Charlie’s sees a transformation with a new grill menu and food served all day on Saturdays. Pizza is also available until 2am on both Friday and Saturday nights. The original cocktail menu has been extended to feature 25 drinks and the bar will now be serving draught beer.
