A 41-YEAR-OLD Exeter man has appeared in court charged with raping a 15-year-old girl and grooming her.

Saffet Temizbas, of Stuart Road, Exeter, faced four charges when he appeared before magistrates at Exeter.

It is alleged that he engaged in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl between June and July last year.

He also faces a fourth charge of, having on at least two occasions communicated with a girl under 16, met her and he intended to do something during or after the meeting which would have involved the commission of an offence under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, namely sexual activity with a child.

Temizbas was not required to enter any pleas to any of the charges at this stage of the proceedings. He was granted conditional bail by magistrates until the next hearing.

Temizbas will appear before a judge at Exeter Crown Court next month for a preliminary hearing.
