THE South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts annual open exhibition is being unveiled this week.
The prestigious event, which gives prizes and awards, including the academy's Young Artists Award, will be on view at Gloss Gallery in Barnfield Crescent, Exeter, from Saturday, October 5,
The exhibition will showcase some of the best fine and applied art work in the South West. Opening times are 9.30am to 5.30pm Wednesday and Thursday, and 9.30am to 6pm, Friday and Saturday. For more details visit www.southwestacademy.org.uk

The free event is being held at the Phoenix Gallery on Saturday, October 5, at 2.30pm, and will provide a chance to ask questions and discuss the exhibition with others.
Exeter Contemporary Open is the only Devon-based competition that is open to artists from across the country. Now in its eighth year, it attracts thousands of visitors and is regarded as one of the most exciting events in the South West's cultural calendar.
THE Art of Plaster is a rare opportunity to see decorative plasterwork close-up, created by one of the UK's leading architectural sculptors.
Geoffrey Preston (above) specialises in decorative plaster and, in particular, the art of stucco. He has created award-winning work for buildings all over the country from his workshop in Exeter.
The exhibition is being held at Lawrence House Museum in Castle Street, Launceston, Cornwall, and runs until Thursday, October 31.

Exe Artists is a local art group that meets weekly and enjoy using a variety of media, subjects and styles in a relaxed and friendly environment.
