A SIGNED Exeter Chiefs rugby shirt was among the items offered for auction at the seventh annual Black Tie Charity Ball, sponsored by Wood's Estate Agents and Auctioneers.
The item, which was auctioned alongside other prizes, including a Dartmouth Package of a champagne picnic cruise and lunch at the exclusive Sixty Six Bistro; the ever-popular London Package; a zoo keeper for a day experience; £1,000 worth of oak furniture; and a steam train footplate experience.
The event took place at The Grand Hotel on Torquay's seafront and was judged "a roaring success" with more than 300 guests helping to raise around £6,000 for local charities and £56,000 in total.
The funds raised at this year's Vegas themed event has been shared between Macmillan Cancer Support, Help for Heroes and Families for Children, the Devon-based children's adoption charity.
Sarah Thomas from the Newton Abbot office of Wood's Estate Agents and Auctioneers, who is joint organiser of the ball with Joyce Sharpe, a Devon coordinator for Help for Heroes, said: "Each year the balls have got better and better, selling out each time and this year we are again thrilled. Thank you to everyone who attended, dug deep into their pockets and made the evening such a success."
