PLANS have been submitted for massive solar panel farm in an East Devon beauty spot.
An application has been submitted to East Devon District Council by Lumicity Ltd for a 19.7 hectare site on East Hill Strips near Sidbury.
It would be for 33,220 panels which would be raised 2.2m off the ground at three metre intervals.
The solar photovoltaic park will generate up to seven megawatts of electricity, sufficient to provide the annual power needs of around 1,680 households.
The renewable energy source would save some 4,130 tonnes of carbon dioxide that may otherwise be generated through the burning of traditional fossil fuels.
Installation of the panels is estimated to take around two or three months.
