ORIGINAL lithographs by some of the world's most sought- after Modern masters are on display at city gallery Gloss-Art.
Art lovers have been flocking to the see the exhibition of works by Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger and Wassily Kandinsky.
It is a major coupe for the gallery in Barnfield Crescent, whose shows have continued to go from strength to strength.
Gloss-Art manager Lucinda Cusdin, who curated the display, said: "We are thrilled to host this exhibition that includes some of modern art's most famous names. It features a wonderful range of original lithographs, some signed by the artists, and gives people in the city centre a rare chance to start a high-calibre collection, or add to an existing one.
"Around 50 pieces have recently been brought to the gallery for visitors to enjoy. We are very lucky to have them."
The display will run alongside Gloss-Art's summer and autumn exhibitions and give members of the public an insight into the processes artists were using during the 20th century to help them create large signature works.
Their relationship with each other and French, family-run printers Mourlot Frere, is also explored.
Lucinda said: "It is interesting reading about the working relationship between Pablo Picasso, the Mourlot brothers.
"He slept at the printing studios so he could stay focused on producing the lithographs!
"Visitors can compare the styles of these six contemporaries. One thing that unites them all is the use of colour and line; movement, joy and imagination have filled the room."
Modern Masters Lithography is on display until October. The gallery is open Wednesday to Thursday, 9.30am to 5.30pm, and Friday to Saturday, 9.30am to 6pm.
