A penalty from Rene Howe has given Torquay United a half-time lead here in the Devon derby against Exeter City at Plainmoor.
The penalty was given in the 15th minute as a ball got played towards the back post. Kevin Amankwaah went up for a header, but the referee pointed to the spot and then booked Scot Bennett.
Although there is some confusion as to why the penalty was given, Howe made no mistake from the spot placing the ball into the top right-hand corner.
Torquay have been good value for the lead though with Nathan Craig also testing Artur Krysiak with a long distance free-kick.
City are still waiting for their first strike on goal, but Jimmy Keohane and Steve Tully have both sents efforts narrolwy wide.
