STAFF at South West Communications Group have been immunised against the flu virus to maintain a healthy and happy team this winter.

The Sowton-based telecommunications firm offered free flu jabs to all of its members of staff this year, in a bid to keep sick days at a minimum during the colder months. The first to face the needle was company managing director Harry Langley.

He said: "It makes economic sense for us to fund this company-wide immunisation programme to try and keep as many staff members healthy during the winter.

"Every business suffers issues when even a few members of staff have to take time off sick.

"We wanted to avoid the effect which lengthy absences could have on our project deployments and customer service.

"We also wanted to relieve the stress on other members of staff required to cover extra duties."
