ALL are invited to celebrate the apple harvest in Lympstone this month.

Lympstone village's first Apple Day is taking place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, October 20.

People are invited to bring their apples for pressing at the event in the orchard of Glenhaven Cottage alongside the church.

Lympstone is making use of the apple press operated by the Common Players theatre group known as Pomona.

Visitors should bring along their own containers such as well-washed milk cartons or there will be some to buy. There will also be apple juice for sale for £1.50 per litre or £5 for five litres.

There will be live entertainment, stalls and displays including a cider tent and country dancing. Refreshments including tea, coffee and cakes or a light lunch will also be available.

Visitors will be challenged to beat the Guinness World Record for the longest unbroken apple peeling – which stands at 172ft 4ins.

Funds raised will go towards ongoing renovations of the village hall.
