Exeter’s most controversial resident is expected to hit the headlines again on Tuesday after Katie Hopkins appears on Channel Five’s ‘The Big Benefits Row: Live’.
Former Apprentice contestant Hopkins will appear on the programme alongside Benefits Street star White Dee.
The two will go head to head in the debate at 9pm tonight.
Hopkins sparked debate last month when she said she had no sympathy for the stars of Benefits Street, saying they are “sponging off the State when they should be out working.”
She said on BBC’s This Week: “I believe in working. I have been a drive-through girl at McDonalds, a Saturday girl at a bakery and I have been a cleaner.
“We have given up on our own workshy population and we have started to rely on hard-working immigrants to do the jobs we turn up our noses at.
“Benefits Street touched a nerve. It showed benefits Britain at its worst: drink; drugs; shoplifting.
“I’m wondering why my taxes are paying people to slob out in front of bigger televisions than I will ever own.”
Adding: “I have no sympathy for anyone on Benefits Street. These are people sponging off the State when they should be out working.
“We can’t allow young people to have a nice life paid for by someone else. I suggest cuts to welfare haven’t gone far enough.”
