Motorists were experiencing traffic delays this afternoon as people left Devon after the half term holidays.

The M5 at junction 27 was particularly busy, with vehicles backing up on the slip road and onto the main motorway.

At Exeter Services cars were waiting to get into the car park at lunch time. One eatery reported selling out of food at lunch time due to high demand.

At 2pm traffic was reported to be stationary from Cullompton on the M5 right through to Bridgewater.

The A303 at Ilminster also reported heavy delays.

Traffic was expected to continue build towards rush hour before easing later on in the evening.
