A YOUNG man is fighting for his life after falling 45ft from a city building.

The 21-year-old is understood to have suffered horrific injuries in the fall, including head and spinal injuries, and is in intensive care in Plymouth's Derriford Hospital.

The man is thought to have fallen from a bathroom window at a property in Blackboy Road.

Police in Exeter are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, but have said they are not treating the incident as suspicious and do not believe the man was pushed.

Officers were called to the scene by ambulance crews who attended the incident.

Paramedics transferred the man to hospital by ambulance, where he is said to be in a "stable but critical condition".

Police have appealed to witnesses or anyone who has information about the incident to contact them.

Detective Inspector Ben Deer, of Exeter CID, said: "We are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to and surrounding how this man came to fall from a window.

"We have reviewed this case and are not treating it as suspicious. However, we would appeal to anyone who saw the man fall, or who has any information about the circumstances leading up to it, to contact us."

Det Insp Deer added: "The man fell from a great height and suffered very serious injuries.

"He is currently in a critical condition in hospital.

"Police were called to the scene by the ambulance crew.

"I can only think that the man has gone out of the window for some unknown reason and he has fallen."

His family were too upset to speak to the Echo.

The man is believed to have fallen from the building between 6.40pm and 7.25pm on Wednesday, October 31.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or witnessed the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 655 of October 31.
