Staff are counting down to the opening of Marco’s New York Italian restaurant at Exeter Airport.

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has put his name to the 96-cover restaurant beside the new Hampton by Hilton hotel. It will open for business on Monday, May 13.

Diners can get 20 per cent off their bill until the end of June by using a voucher inside this week’s Express & Echo.

Specialising in pizzas, pasta, barbecue ribs, steak and seafood, the restaurant will be open from noon to 10pm, seven days a week.

The eatery was originally due to be a Frankie’s Bar and Grill, an Italian restaurant partnership between Marco Pierre White and champion jockey Frankie Dettori. But the jockey’s name was dropped after his six-month racing ban for failing a drugs test.

A total of 55 jobs have been created at the 120-bedroom Hampton by Hilton Exeter Airport, which is the fast-growing value brand’s 11th UK hotel.
