JOSH Matavesi suffered defeat on his international debut as Fiji were beaten by Scotland on Saturday.

The 19-year-old Exeter Chiefs full-back played 74 minutes of the match at Murrayfield.

But he and his teammates went down 23-10 in former England coach Andy Robinson's first game in charge of Scotland.

Matavesi made a break early on but took a knock in the second half and was replaced by Jonetani Ratu with six minutes to go.

He will be hoping to add to his first outing when Fiji play Ireland this Saturday.

The squad flew to Dublin yesterday as they look to bounce back from that defeat against an Ireland side that drew with Australia yesterday.

Brian O'Driscoll's try and Ronan O'Gara's conversion in the final minute saw the hosts come from behind to draw.

Matt Banahan's late try earned England a 16-9 win against Argentina at Twickenham.

International rugby results, yesterday: Ireland 20 Australia 20. Saturday: England 16 Argentina 9, Italy 6 New Zealand 20, Scotland 23 Fiji 10. Friday: France 20 South Africa 13, Wales 17 Samoa 13
