A new show apartment at the Portland House student development on Longbrook Street has been opened by luxury accommodation provider Vita Student.

The room (pictured) is an exact replica of the apartment students will live in during their time at Portland House and gives potential tenants the chance to see the design.

Each studio features a hotel-standard en-suite bathroom, fitted kitchen with integrated appliances and a double bed. They also include free high-speed 100MB broadband, Wi-Fi and a flat screen smart TV.

Vita Student has unveiled the show apartment following extremely high demand from students keen to live in the development during the upcoming academic year.

Since the site opened for bookings in January more than 65% of the 156 apartments have been rented, meaning that it is on-track to achieve 100% occupancy in its first year of operation.

Many of these students are from Exeter University, with the vast majority going into their second, third or postgraduate years of study. Approximately 70% of tenants are from overseas, predominantly coming from South East Asia and Europe.

Gavin Duncan, Managing Director from Vita Student Management, said: ‘Portland House represents the finest student residences available in Exeter. The level of demand we have received from students is overwhelming and it demonstrates that we are catering for a real gap in the market and providing students with the style of accommodation that they are increasingly looking for.

“The new show pod looks fantastic and I really urge students to visit it as soon as possible so they can truly understand the quality and lifestyle we are offering.”

Once completed Vita Student at Portland House will have a large communal student ‘hub’ which includes relaxation, study and social areas as well as a gym.

Alongside this, students will also have 24 hour security, key fob entry, secure bike storage and a dedicated mobile app that aids social interaction between residents, as well as providing another line of communication with Vita Student Management. The app, a first in the UK student market, also has features such as a live feed to the laundry so students know when their washing is ready.

Rents at Portland House start from £152.25 per week for the year and students can organise a visit and their tenancy by visiting the show pod on Longbrook Street, calling 01392 90 88 00 or visiting http://www.vitastudent.com/student/locations/exeter/vita-student-at-portland-house/.

Students visiting the apartment before Thursday 17th April will be entered into a competition to win two European InterRail tickets for 10 days of travel to be used within a 22 day period.
