Okehampton coach Brett Luxton wants an improvement from his team ahead of the derby date at Tavistock, despite recording a victory over St Ives last time out.
The Okes overcame a patchy first-half performance to run out comfortable 32-19 winners, but the manner of victory left a bit to be desired.
“When we were good we were pretty impressive, but we didn’t do it long enough or often enough,” said Luxton.
“In the first half particularly we played really well in five-minute bursts, then seemed to switch off for 10 minutes.
“That is how we found ourselves 12-7 down before half-time.
“If I could have one request for this Saturday, it would be that we join some of those five-minute periods together.”
Craig Dennis went in for two tries and there were singles for Gary Sizmur and George Tresize. Billy Searle kicked a first-half penalty and conversion, with Carl Poynton taking over in the second half.
Teignmouth coach Simon Morrell is confident there will be no hangover against Wellington this Saturday after the heavy 40-19 defeat by Ivybridge.
Morrell said that the Teigns could have no complaints about the outcome and it was pointless dwelling on it.
“This Saturday we reach halfway in the season and have just met the only team significantly better than us,” said Morrell. “Ivybridge are by far and away the best side we have faced this season and if they don’t win our division I will be amazed.”
Henry Raby scored two tries for the Teigns, with Neil Johns bagging a third.
