THERE is one month left to enter a photography competition to show off the best lakes in the South West.
The ‘Love your Lakes’ photography competition, organised by South West Lakes Trust and South West Water, closes on September 30.
The competition is to encourage people of all ages to make the most of the fantastic photo and filming opportunities at their lakes across Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset.
This year there are three photo categories – the beauty of water, activities and flora and fauna. There are also two video categories – nature and action.
Photos and videos must be taken at one of South West Lakes Trust lakes, and £250 will be awarded to the overall winning photograph and video and £100 for each individual category winner.
Runner up prizes will also be awarded.
The ‘Love your Lakes’ judges include Evelyn Stacey, chief executive of South West Lakes Trust and renowned professional news and sport photographer Richard Austin.
Evelyn Stacey said: “We know how precious the lakes are to our local communities as well as providing spectacular backdrops for photography.
“We’re hoping the competition will encourage everyone, young and old, to have a go at recording their favourite locations in different seasons, whether it’s wildlife, an action shot or a reflective moment.
“We’re hoping the video category will encourage some budding film directors to capture their experiences in a short film that can be shared with everyone, via the web.”
Send your photos and videos to firstname.lastname@example.org. More information can be found on the South West Lakes Trust website www.swlakestrust.org.uk.
