A 64-year-old man killed in a crash on the outskirts of Exeter was yesterday named as David Michael Howard Hill. Mr Hill, of Harbertonford near Totnes, died after his silver Mercedes left the A379 at Peamore, collided with a tree and ended up on its side. An off-duty police detective stopped at the scene to give first aid, helped by a member of the public until paramedics arrived. Mr Hill was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he later died. Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident, which happened at 6.10pm on Monday, to come forward.
