JAMIE Reid had a hand in both goals as Exeter City reserves beat Reading reserves 2-1 on Tuesday.

City took a strong squad of 22 players to the Madejski Stadium for the game with Alan Gow, Jamie Cureton, Arron Davies, Mark Molesley, Scot Bennett and Tommy Doherty all starting the match.

Likewise Reading named a strong starting line-up with Adam le Fondre and Danny Guthrie in their side.

The Royals started the match well and took the lead in the sixth minute before having the better of the first-half play.

However, at half-time assistant manager Rob Edwards made a few changes brining on Reid and Guillem Bauza to play up front, with Jake Gosling, Tom Nichols, Jacob Cane and Jimmy Keohane lining up in midfield in the second half.

City equalised two minutes into the second half when Nich ols played a corner short to Keohane and he crossed for Reid to glance a header towards goal, which was deflected over the line by a Reading defender.

Reid then grabbed the winning goal midway through the half as a flowing passing move saw him played in behind the home defence. Reid outpaced his marker before rounding the Reading keeper and side-footing home.

Edwards said that while the result was decent, the performance and everybody getting a run out was more pleasing.

He praised defenders Jordan Moore-Taylor, Aaron Dawson and Jordan Tilson who played the whole match. Myles Anderson would have completed the settled back-four line-up but he was substituted midway through the match with a cut knee to be replaced by Jacob Wannell.

"It would be harsh to single anybody out because they all played well," said a delighted Edwards.
