The Salty Pigeon is a new fine dining establishment opening in Exeter on 22nd January 2013. The intimate, 30 seat restaurant will focus on creating fabulous food with free range ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

Tanya James is opening the restaurant with her son, Ryan Mell, a second year student at the Michael Caines Academy. Ryan will be the first Academy student to open his own restaurant and it will be a dream business opportunity for him. Ryan has had excellent support from Exeter College and, while continuing his studies, he will develop his skills and experience at The Salty Pigeon with the restaurant's head chef, Simeon Baber.

Simeon is an established chef who began his career at The Royal Clarence and has worked for various members of the royal family. Simeon is passionate about producing extraordinary cuisine and is hoping that the menu will offer something for everyone with a combination of fine dining and more simple options. The Salty Pigeon aims to accommodate all tastes and dietary requirements, allowing couples or groups with varying tastes to eat in one place together.

Tanya has always had a passion for food, but her appreciation of fine dining has developed in recent years. Tanya was formerly the Manager of Broadclyst Pre-School Playgroup (which she managed to three consecutive 'outstanding' Ofsted reviews) and decided last year that the time was right to pursue her dream and support Ryan in his career. Tanya aims to continue her outstanding achievements and will be putting one hundred percent effort into ensuring the success of the restaurant.

Tanya and Ryan's vision is to open a family-run restaurant, using local free-range products to produce the best food at the most reasonable prices. The aim of The Salty Pigeon is to provide a new experience to locals and put something back into the community. Tanya is keen to encourage the local residents of Exeter to visit the cosy restaurant and not be put off by any misconceptions that the food will be unaffordable. There will be no service charge on any orders. The ultimate goal is for guests to feel that the exquisite food and exceptional service is something that should be experienced regularly, not just on special occasions.

Tanya and her family look forward to welcoming you at The Salty Pigeon soon. The restaurant is located at 29 Magdalen Road, Exeter EX2 4TA and bookings can be made by telephoning 01392 435883 or 07983 222034.
