The A380 has been reopened after a bus carrying school children and a car collided at Telegraph Hill this morning.

Three fire crews, ambulance and police were called to the scene on the northbound carriageway at Kennford.

The driver of the bus is thought to have been unconscious and the bus carrying the children continued to carry on down the hill before coming to rest.

The crash occurred at 8am and left the woman driver in the Ford Ka unconscious and trapped in her vehicle.

One driver stuck in the tailback said: “The traffic heading towards Exeter is queuing right back to the Ashcombe junction. It was stationary for a long time but now it’s crawling along

The school bus was carrying children but there are no reports of any injuries and a replacement bus was called.

The female in the Ford Ka was freed by fire fighters at 8:30am and is now conscious, say police.

Traffic was diverted to the A38 and police warned motorists to take care as conditions are poor with lots of surface water and spray.
