COMEDY circuit favourite Steve Hughes is heading to Devon to preview his second UK tour.
Comedy with a caustic anti-establishment twist is promised when he plays the Comedy Hall in Tiverton on August 21.
The former heavy metal drummer (pictured) is on tour around the UK after sell-out shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and New Zealand.
With his 'Jesus' style hair and beard and dressed his black and leather uniform beloved of goths and metal heads, he returns to the UK on a wave of acclaim following his debut tour here in 2012.
He's also built on his reputation as a unique, world-class performer with sets on Live at the Apollo and Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow (BBC One), as well as Stand Up For The Week (CH4).
The master comedian will be testing out new material for his latest show While It's Still Legal featuring his usual outspoken social commentary before embarking on the main tour.
Previews are a rare chance to watch while master performers work on their stuff in intimate clubs, testing it out before taking it to larger, often impersonal and cavernous, arena-style venues.
"It's the warmth of West Country audiences which makes the Comedy Hall such a great place for comics to warm up for major tours." says Steve Lodge, who runs the club.
"For audiences, it's an incredible opportunity to get up close to their comedy heroes, and all for a tenner."
Steve Hughes is at the Comedy Hall in Tiverton on August 21, at 8pm. Tickets cost £10 from www.comedyhall.co.uk
