Subway franchisees Harvey Brown and Matthew Symons are preparing to open the fast food chain's fourth branch in Exeter.
Around 10 jobs have been created at the new sandwich store, which is due to open on Friday, December 14, in Philip House, Honiton Road, near Exeter Business Park.
Matthew and Harvey have been Subway franchisees since 2002 and have opened 19 stores across the South West, including three in Exeter so far.
Harvey said: "Matthew and I knew each other from school and had both previously worked as farmers in the local rural community. Deciding to open a franchise was a major career change for both of us.
"Given the current economic climate, embarking on new ventures could be more risky than usual, however we feel that the location and demand near Exeter Business Park is a great opportunity for us to grow our portfolio.
"With the Met Office situated close by, the high footfall of office workers and recent statistics showing that 75 per cent of us don't take a proper lunch break, we felt that Philip House was an opportunity for us to encourage the business population in Exeter to eat a proper lunch and pop out for a Sub."
The Subway brand is the largest specialist sandwich franchise in the UK and Ireland, with more than 1,500 stores. Worldwide, there are more than 38,000 Subway stores in 98 countries, all but one of which are franchised.
