Thieves steal tens of thousands of pounds from Exeter cashpoint in late night raid

Police are asking for the public’s help after tens of thousands of pounds was stolen from a cashpoint in an Exeter bank. Police are investigating the burglary at Lloyds TSB bank at Pinhoe, Exeter over the weekend. Officers were called by staff at 11.45am on Monday, May 26, and attended Lloyds Bank, Main Road. The thieves entered the bank through the roof and stole a large quantity of cash, believed to be in the tens of thousands, from the cashpoint. Officers are currently carrying out enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone with information. Det Sgt Dean Bassett said: “This appears to be a well-planned burglary and we are working with the bank staff and their security teams as the investigation continues. We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anyone acting unusually or suspiciously in the bank, or around the junction of Main Road and Station Road, in the days before the break in. Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting reference 339 of May 26.”
