A woman remains in a serious condition today after a crash on a busy Exeter road.

Police have confirmed that three people are in hospital after the collision on Pinhoe Road, Exeter just after 2pm today.

The female driver of the red Vauxhall has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. A child, who was also in the red Vauxhall, has been taken to The Royal Devon and Exeter hospital.

The male driver of the silver vehicle has also been taken to the RD&E.

Police, land ambulance and two air ambulances were called to the scene on Pinhoe Road shortly after 2pm on Sunday.

One fire crew from Middlemoor and another from Danes Castle were sent to the scene of the accident, near the junction with Whipton Village Road.

They arrived to find one female casualty trapped.

The fire crews released the woman from the car using hydraulic cutting gear.

The road has now been cleared.
