48 Hour Film Challenge Screening
Thu 29 Nov, 9.15pm, FREE but must book in advance.
The very best of this year’s 48 hour film challenge where each film has been written, shot & edited in just 48 hours.

Exeter Phoenix Short Films 2012 Premier Screenings
Fri 30 Nov, 9.00pm £3.50 (£2.50)
The Festival finale and the first chance to experience the premiere of this years short film commissions created with the support of Exeter Phoenix Digital.

Seat of the Pants Orchestra play with UNsilent Movies
Mon 26 Nov, 7.30pm, £11 (£5)
Four short silent movies, from classic to contemporary. Add an orchestra of musicians who will improvise a live soundtrack, with no rehearsal and no plan. A one-off never-to-be-repeated performance with possibly as much slapstick on stage as on screen.

48 Hour Film Challenge

Fri 9- Sun 11 Nov, FREE
Can you plan, shoot & edit a film in just 48 hours?
For the 5th year running Two Short Nights invites teams of filmmakers to take part in this inspiring challenge. Teams are to register by Wed 7 Nov in order to attend the launch at Exeter Phoenix on Fri 9 Nov to pick up the assignment. No previous film experience needed, just a good imagination and a camera.
Films which are made and delivered within the 48 hour will have the chance to be screened at the opening night of the Two Short Nights Festival 2012 and are also eligible for a Festival Award.

Speech, Music and Sound in Cinema
Fri 9 Nov, 10.30-5.30pm
Through film clips, transcription and analysis learn how filmmakers such as Hitchcock, Tarantino, and Kubrick use sound semiotic techniques. This course is aimed at filmmakers; composers and sound designers.

Camera Skills
Fri 16 Nov, 10.30-5.30pm
Lead by award winning Director of Photography, Chris Jones, learn how to use cameras to a professional standard, frame.

Lights and Blue Screen Action
Fri 23 Nov, 10.30-5.30pm
This hands on workshop will guide you through the best ways to light your set and teach you the first steps to blue screen.
