Unexpected is a new festival for Exeter that takes performance and art out of venues and into unexpected locations across the city, featuring a range of free and affordable ticketed events for everyone. It opens on September 15 with a free day of sports, music and street theatre from noon to 8pm, on Exeter Quay and Piazza Terracina, culminating in pyrotechnics on the river. This year's annual service sees a change in format and date. It will form part of a larger open day taking place from 11am to 4pm, with other industry related organisations in attendance.
