Join the University of Exeter's leading musical theatre society 'Footlights' as they take you back to 1947 New York, to the dazzling Copacabana nightclub for another show-stopping tale of music and passion. Barry Manilow's musical follows aspiring songwriter, Stephen, as he composes what he hopes will become a hit musical. His imagination creates a story surrounding an ambitious young singer who arrives in New York City hoping to become a star. Her name was Lola, just arrived from Tulsa, Oklahoma and with the help of songwriter Tony Forte, Lola gets a job as a glamorous 'Copa girl' at the famous "Copacabana". Friday January 25th, 7.30-10pm. Life Through The Lens at the RAMM. This exhibition questions the nature of still and moving image as a record of the past. It showcases fascinating images from RAMM’s collection of historic glass plate slides, cine film contributed by members of the public and digital images generated by local young people. The exhibition makes intriguing insights about people and places based on the images that have survived from the past. What should museums preserve for the future? On until January 27th.
