FRIDAY OCTOBER 12th

Beer Rhythm and Blues Festival, Various Venues. The 15th Beer R&B Festival will be celebrated this year from the 12th -14th October, a fantastic weekend of live music in beautiful surroundings. 2012 line-up: Friday night at The Mariners Hall: Movin' On 15 Piece Blues Orchestra

Exeter Phoenix, Bradninch Place: Wilko Johnson - Originally formed in 1971 as a British rock band from Canvey Island, Essex. Dr. Feelgood’s distinctive British R&B sound was centered on Wilko Johnson’s choppy guitar style. After pioneering Dr. Feelgood’s distinctive sound, Wilko played guitar for Ian Dury and the Blockheads and his current band features Blockhead members - Norman Watt-Roy (bass guitar), and Dylan Howe (drums). Support From Virgil and the Accelerators. Standing event. 8pm-10pm. £17.50 per ticket.

Exeter Northcott, Stocker Road: Classic Cut - An intriguing show from choreographer Shobana Jeyasingh – revisiting the past and boldly stepping into the new. Classic Cut presents Configurations, a dance piece celebrated for its exhilarating speed and stunning detail. Created in 1988 with iconic composer Michael Nyman, the score has become his acclaimed String Quartet No. 2 (played live on stage for this performance). 7.30-8.45pm. £18.50 per ticket.

Active Budleigh Festival: Whether you are young, old, expert or novice, the Active Budleigh Festival will have an adventure, sport or activity for you to enjoy. At one extreme we will have world champion BMX riders giving demonstrations and providing coaching for young people, while at the very same venue you will be able to try mobility scooters either around a course or off-road. Many clubs in Budleigh are opening their doors to allow you to try activities such as pony riding, croquet, tennis, bowls and golf. There are opportunities to get involved in many forms of dancing both indoors and outdoors and there are guided walks where you can learn about the wildlife and history of the area. You can do easy fun cycle rides or venture onto the surrounding commons on a mountain bike adventure.

New Theatre, Friars Gate, Exeter: The Rivals - Creative Cow in association with the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford presents THE RIVALS by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. A day in the life of a circle of socialites swooping in on the fashionable city of Bath, to take the waters, find romance and have a jolly good gossip! Confusion, duels, madness and mayhem ensue in Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s hilarious 18th century masterpiece - The Rivals. Enter Mrs Malaprop with her famous twisted phrases, her niece Lydia anguish who is busy falling in love with the handsome Captain Jack, who himself is being pushed around by his explosive father Sir Anthony Absolute. 7.30-10pm. £10 per ticket.

Exeter Barnfield Theatre: Princess Ida - St David's Players present the operetta Princess Ida by Gilbert and Sullivan. Prince Hilarion has been waiting for this day for twenty years. He is about to meet the girl to whom he was betrothed as a baby. However this girl, Princess Ida, has forsworn men and has founded a women's university at Castle Adamant. In an attempt to woo her, Hilarion and his friends dress up as maidens and sneak into the castle. 7.30pm-10pm. £14/£10 per ticket.

Exeter Phoenix, Bradninch Place: Adam Isaac - Album Launch - Devon based Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Adam Isaac has over 10 years of experience as a gigging musician and built a strong southwest following in his earlier years. He has played many venues and festivals around the UK, supported Joss Stone on her UK tour in 2009, has been named brand ambassador for British freesports lifestyle brand Animal, and in 2012 Adam made it to the quarter final stages of BBC’s The Voice UK with the legendary Sir Tom Jones as coach. Following his recent national exposure he is set to release an album in Autumn 2012 and tour the new original material with his full band. His edgy rock/pop sound draws influence from bands like Muse, Coldplay, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Blur, Oasis, Stereophonics and more. 8.30pm-10.30pm. £8.50/£6.50 per ticket.

Following the thrice extended sell-out success of his five star reviewed and Foster's comedy award nominated show Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog, Greg Davies returns with his brand new stand-up show The Back of My Mum's Head. Since first coming to prominence as the sardonic Head of Sixth Form, Mr Gilbert, in the BAFTA award-winning The Inbetweeners, Greg has brought his unique brand of comedy to some of the UK's best loved comedy shows including; Live at the Apollo; Mock The Week; Ask Rhod Gilbert; Would I Lie To You and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. 8pm-10pm. £20 per ticket.

Voodoo Lounge, Exeter Phoenix, Bradninch Place: Jaz Morley - Dorset girl Jazz Morley possesses a voice with such natural soulfulness she has been invited to perform at many of the UK's leading festivals including The Great Escape, Isle of Wight, Greenbelt, Guilfest and Wychwood. Music Week recognised this growing industry popularity by inviting Jazz to perform at ‘Breakout’ - their monthly showcase night for best new label signings and emerging talent. Soon after, Jazz thought she was going to watch Alfie Boe sound checking ahead of his gig at the B.I.C. in Bournemouth... and after a chat over a cuppa with the great man, ended up singing on stage with him in front of a sold out audience of 3,600 people. 7.30pm-10pm. £7.50/£6.50 per ticket.

Adapted from POBBY AND DINGAN by Ben Rice. Pobby and Dingan are Kellyanne's best friends. Her brother Ashmol hates them because they're invisible. Then they go missing - and Kellyanne gets sick. Ashmol must find them, but where do you look for something you can't even see?
