A Tiverton pharmacy was severely damaged by a fire yesterday evening.
The fire and rescue service tackled the blaze at 6:20pm on the second floor of the Lloyds Pharmacy on Market Walk in the town centre.
Two fire appliances from Tiverton attended the blaze and upon arrival requested a third fire appliance from Cullompton as the building was heavily smoke logged.
Fire crews forced entry into the property and extinguished the fire using six breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets and two thermal image cameras.
Fifty percent of the ground floor was damaged by fire and the remainder of the ground floor was severely damaged by smoke. The first floor was also slightly damaged by smoke.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
